ALMOST a month on from his re-election, United States President Barack Obama continues to make waves in pop culture.
Since his re-election, the president has overturned popstar Justin Bieber’s record of having the most-retweeted tweet in Twitter history.
The tweet, above, of the president and his wife hugging under the caption “Four more years” gained more than 400,000 retweets within hours of it being published.
Several days on, it has 817,167 retweets from Twitter users all over the world.
Fans of an Obama re-election have also been busy paying homage to the president in the form of Internet memes (images, videos, etc, shared on social media sites such as Tumblr,Facebook and Twitter).
New political memes include Obama as other pop icons such as singer Beyonce and newcomer rapper 2-Chainz, right.
The most popular memes poke fun at unsuccessful presidential candidate Mitt Romney with a series of pictures of Obama with the quote “You mad?” left.
Obama is also proving to be a hit with the kids.
Two weeks ago, the president met American Olympic gymnastics team The Fierce Five.
During the meeting Obama posed for pictures including pulling his best ‘Not Impressed’ face made famous by McKayla Maroney, below, after her silver medal finish at the 2012 Olympics.
Afterwards, the 16-year-old gymnast tweeted: “Did I just do the ‘Not Impressed’ face with the president..?”
To which the president’s official Twitter reply was ‘yes’.
